Western NC Mountains Pre-Conference for Envision 2022
In and around the Asheville area, participants and organizers of this pre-conference have assembled the region’s top woodfirers and a host of national and international guests for seven days of complete immersion into the exciting world of woodfiring. They have created an action-packed week, from May 19th-25th, of programming full of firings, exhibition receptions, demonstrations, studio tours, feasts, parties, and music, which promises to offer something special for everyone involved!
Firefest 2019

STARclay holds a yearly Firefest event. During 2019 I was fortunate enough to participate in this event. Michael Sherrill was the visiting artist and invited me to build the sculpture he designed. During this time we built the core of the sculpture together. Then with help from STARclay residents and Preston Tolbert, Michael embossed the flowers onto the piece. The whole building process took three days, and then was fired in two days. Several hundred people attended the event.
